Student Volunteer Application

EDM 2024 is seeking student volunteer applications. Student volunteers are essential to the success of EDM. In return for help at the conference, student volunteers receive several benefits, including free conference registration, access to social events, and the opportunity to interact and network with top EDM contributors and organizers. Being a student volunteer is a great way to network with the community.

The student volunteers must attend the conference in person. Duties for volunteers will include helping to set up and perform needed work during the conference, such as poster and demo setup, hosting Q&As in sessions and for online attendees, monitoring the breaks, tech support, etc. The volunteers will need to arrive before 7 am on Sunday, July 14th for the orientation and are expected to stay for the entire duration of the conference.

Student volunteers usually get to attend most of the sessions, even when working, so they will participate in all the conference content and activities. Scheduled hours depend on the type of volunteering activity and will not exceed 20 working hours.

Qualifications

Volunteers must be students during the 2023-2024 academic year. Students of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. You do not need a paper accepted to participate, but you will be responsible for funding your travel to and from the conference and lodging. No previous student volunteer experience is required, but we seek enthusiastic and reliable people fluent in English.

Selection Criteria

We will aim to select students who represent our diverse and thriving community. That includes a mix of genders, backgrounds, universities, and a mix of volunteers with and without volunteering experiences. We are looking to have representation across geographical locations to represent our global audience.
